Elmer Thiessen moved to Waterloo, Ontario, in 2007, after having retired from teaching philosophy at Medicine Hat College, in Alberta, Canada, for over 35 years. He continues to teach on a part-time basis at Wilfrid Laurier University and Emmanuel Bible College, with an occasional teaching stint overseas. He has published numerous articles and book reviews, both in professional journals and religious magazines. His research specialty has been the philosophy of education – here he has published two books, Teaching for CommitmentIn Defence of Religious Schools and Colleges (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 1993; 2001). His most recent work is entitled, The Ethics of Evangelism: A Philosophical Defence of Ethical Proselytizing and Persuasion, published in 2011 by Paternoster Press and IVP Academic. A forthcoming book on the same topic but written specifically for Christians, and tentatively entitled, The Scandal of Evangelism: A New Testament Study of the Ethics of Evangelism, will be published by Wipf and Stock, either in the fall of 2017 or early in 2018.
